11th Annual Workshop on the Economics of Information Security, Berlin, Germany
he 11th Annual Workshop on the Economics of Information Security will take place from 25 to 26 June 2012 in Berlin, Germany.
As information security and privacy continue to grow in importance, threats to privacy are proliferating. The security of information systems and the privacy offered by them depends on more than just technology. They require an understanding of the incentives and trade-offs inherent to the behaviour of people and organisations. This necessitates careful research to accurately characterise threats and countermeasures, in both the public and private sectors.
This event will look into empirical and analytic tools to not only shed light on threats, but also to highlight security and privacy through novel evaluations of available solutions. Specific topics are set to include:
- optimal investment in information security;
- models and analysis of online crime (including botnets, phishing, and spam);
- risk management and cyber-insurance;
- security standards and regulation;
- cyber-security policy;
- security models and metrics;
- economics of privacy and anonymity;
- behavioural security and privacy;
- vulnerability discovery, disclosure, and patching;
- cyber-defence strategy and game theory;
- incentives for information sharing and cooperation.
